Broadway star, Clyde Alves!
Clyde Alves is a singer-songwriter & actor who has released his debut EP “Back To Us” and brand new single “It’s Still A Party”. Aside from playing his original music in and around New York at places like Chelsea Table & Stage, The Waylon, The Bitter End, Birdland Jazz Club & Blue Note Jazz Club, you might have caught him on the Broadway Stage. He has had the pleasure of appearing there in shows like The Music Man, Oklahoma!, Hairspray, Wicked, Anything Goes, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Bullets Over Broadway & On The Town. Clyde's music is personal, raw and melodic, infused with a folk, rock, soul and reggae sound!
BACstory is a combination of music, community and friendly banter. Denise Summerford, sits down with each performer to travel along their path in show business. Hear their back stories in a fun, informal, musically unplugged setting, then take part in an audience driven Q&A.

Self Tape Nuts & Bolts Workshop

The Self Tape Nuts and Bolts workshop covers everything we need to know on the technical side of things, so that when it's time to tell the story - we can let go and have fun, because we know we've got our bases covered! In this 2 hour workshop we will cover: tips and tricks for your phone, framing, lighting, sound, backgrounds, tripods, best options for virtual readers, earbuds and bluetooth for MT auditions, and a brief walk together into iMovie to make the cleanest, most up-to-date and industry standard self tape around! We'll wrap up with a brief Q&A. This will be an online Zoom class.

ABOUT WENDY ROSOFF: As a creative hyphenate, Wendy’s mission is to tell great stories and to help others find their way to their own unique storytelling that is chock full of discovery and authenticity. Wendy has made and watched a gajillion self-tapes and has learned A LOT along the way – she has seen the good, the bad, and the ugly (with a few of those being her own until she got it together!). Her goal is to be your Self Tape Sherpa™ so you can actually enjoy the process! In her free time Wendy is an adrenaline junkie who loves jumping out of planes, scuba diving, and giant roller coasters.

Our 6 week ZOOM acting class with Geno Carr has been so successful and the students are loving it. We are offering a second session and we’d love for your young artist to join us for part 2 of this amazing class. It is open to all advanced beginning/intermediate level actor ages 13-college. Space is VERY limited.
Students will work on a play and delve deeper into analyzing text and creating exciting and interesting characters. The class will be taught again by the amazing Geno Carr and will culminate in a zoom performance. Geno was in the original cast of COME FROM AWAY on Broadway and has many tv and theatrical credits. He’s also a teaching artists at various Colleges and performing arts programs all over the country.
This will be an online Zoom class. What an incredible opportunity to study with an artist based out of California!

Geno Carr is an actor, singer, director and educator who is best known for creating the role of Oz & Others in Broadway’s Tony Award-winning hit musical Come From Away.
Geno is currently adjunct faculty at Grossmont College and recently served as Director of Education at San Diego Musical Theatre Academy. He spent two years as Assistant Professor of Theatre and Guest Artist at Stephens College, has taught at MiraCosta College and the University of Virginia, and taught on two voyages with Semester at Sea. In New York City, he has taught with Broadway Classroom, Believe NYC and Junior Tours and has also taught at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, North Coast Repertory Theatre, North County School of the Arts, Youth Performing Arts School and SDMT Academy. Geno also holds a distance education certification.
He has been seen Off-Broadway, on four national tours, and regionally at The Old Globe, La Jolla Playhouse, Ford’s Theatre, Royal Alexandra Theatre, Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, Maine Shakespeare Festival, North Coast Repertory Theatre, San Diego Musical Theatre, Allenberry Playhouse, Intrepid Theatre Co., Heritage Theatre Festival, Lamb’s Players Theatre (Associate Artist), Cygnet Theatre (Resident Artist) and The Rev Theatre Co., to name a few.
Geno holds an MFA in Acting and Directing from Sarah Lawrence College, a dual BA in Music and Theatre from Hartwick College and is a member of Actors’ Equity Association and the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.

We are thrilled to have Musical Theatre and recording artist Star, Shoshana Bean, with us this year for our BROADWAY BREAKOUT Master Class. This year all on ZOOM. Shoshana will be doing an Acting through Song Master Class for singers/actors ages 14+. Participants will get to work with Shoshana one on one and participate in a Q&A. Observers may watch but not participate.
Shoshana Bean’s three independent solo albums have all topped the iTunes R&B and Blues charts in the US and UK, with her fourth and most recent project, SPECTRUM, debuting at #1 on the Billboard Jazz charts. She has sold out solo concerts around the globe, lent her voice to countless films and television shows, amasses millions of views on YouTube, and performed alongside Ariana Grande, David Foster, Postmodern Jukebox, Brian McKnight, and Michael Jackson. Shoshana is a veteran of the Broadway stage having made her debut in the original cast of Hairspray, starring as the very first replacement for Elphaba in Wicked and most recently as Jenna in Waitress. She won a IRNE Award for her performance as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl and earned a Jeff Award nomination for her portrayal of CeeCee Bloom in the pre-Broadway musical production of Beaches.

RADIO PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP!
BE ON A TOP HUDSON VALLEY RADIO STATION!!!
Work with Denise Summerford, Broadway Actor and Co-host of the morning show: MORNINGS WITH JOHN AND DENISE from ENERGY 103.1 FM.
This 8 week workshop is designed to introduce students to the voice over market and let them dive into AND PERFORM a real Holiday radio musical script AND record it. Participants will learn the basics of voice acting and singing, script interpretation, how to bring characters to life using just your voice, studio performance, microphone technique and so much more. They will get to rehearse and record it all at state of the art Black Sheep Recording Studios in Gardiner, NY and work with audio engineer Jeffrey Frey. The musical will be broadcast to thousands Christmas Eve morning on the top Hudson Valley radio station ENERGY 103.1 FM. Don’t miss out on this unique performance opportunity.

Self tapes have become the trend in auditions especially now during the pandemic and they are here to stay. Learn the ropes of how to do a successful self taped audition with one of the industry’s top TV and Film Casting Directors. Brette will reveal the tricks of the trade and cover topics in how to create and set up your self tape area, what equipment you need including lighting and sound, what to do if you don’t have a reader at home, what devices you can use to do a self tape, how to upload and send your files and much more. Bring your notebooks and questions and join us for this important workshop.
Brette has cast five television series (USA, LMN, Lifetime, History Channel, Investigation Discovery), over 50 independent films, 300 commercials, 100 plays, seven pilot presentations (including “Odd Mom Out” for Bravo) and various new media projects, and was the resident casting director at Washington, DC’s Folger Elizabethan Theatre for ten seasons.

Netflix Sweet Magnolias star and Drop Dead Diva’s Brooke Elliott is joining us to work one on one with participants in this INTRO TO ON CAMERA ACTING workshop. She will give you all the basics of acting on camera as you work through copy in class and how to make that transition from theatre to film and tv. There will also be a Q&A for this class.

Brooke Elliott stars in the new Netflix series, Sweet Magnolias, in the role of ‘Dana Sue Sullivan.’ She was also recently seen on Netflix in Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings: If I Had Wings. Elliott is best known for her portrayal in the lead role of ‘Jane Bingum’ in the Lifetime Television series, Drop Dead Diva, which ran for six seasons. For her work on Drop Dead Diva, Elliott received the 2012 Women’s Image Network Award for “Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series,” the 2010 Gracie Award for “Female Rising Star in a Comedy Series” and was nominated in 2011 and 2014 for a PRISM Award for “Best Performance in a Comedy Series”. Elliott starred on Broadway in The Pirate Queen, an original musical from Schönberg and Boublil (Les Miserables) and Taboo (composed by Boy George, produced by Rosie O’Donnell). She toured nationally with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and was in the original cast of the 1st National Tour of Wicked. Elliott made her directorial debut on the web series, Say Hello, for which she directed six episodes.
