John Summerford (Managing Director) is an actor, director, arts educator and producer. John has performed in New York City and across the country on tour and in numerous regional productions (including at Trinity Rep, Ogunquit Playhouse, Cape Playhouse among others), also Radio City Christmas Spectacular and Carnegie Hall.

 

He has also performed locally in the Hudson Valley with Vassar's Powerhouse Theater, New York Stage & Film, Shadowland Theatre, Half Moon Theatre and River Valley Repertory.

 

Favorite roles include Twelfth Night (Orsino), Falling (Bill), Dinner with Friends (Tom), Company (Tour - Paul & Peter), Godspell (Jesus), Sweeney Todd (Sweeney), It’s a Wonderful Life (George Bailey), A Christmas Carol (Marley, Cratchit + many others) and Santa with the Radio City Rockettes!

 

Off-Broadway, John served as Assistant Director on Sin: A Cardinal Deposed starring John Cullum at The New Group (OBIE Award & 2 Drama Desk Nominations) and Ionesco’s The Bald Soprano & The Lesson at Atlantic Theater Company.

Other Directing credits include productions of Design for Living, Anything Goes, Babes in Arms, as well as numerous play festivals, readings and workshops at Vassar's Powerhouse Theater, Half Moon Theatre and BAC Productions, among others.

John was a company member of Half Moon Theatre in Poughkeepsie where he co-founded and served as Co-Director of Half Moon Theatre School of the Arts for 6 years along with his wife, Denise, prior to launching Broadway Arts Collective where he teaches acting and performance technique. He has successfully coached students for professional stage and film auditions as well as for college programs.

 

John is an alumnus of the Atlantic Theater Company Acting Program, holds a degree in Economics from Trinity College in Connecticut and proudly carries union cards for Actors Equity Association and SAG/AFTRA.
